Make a Break by Nick007

It had been a long hard day at the office for Steve. He was on salary pay so his job made him work more than 60 hours a week. However it was finally the weekend and he could finally get some rest. So when the clock struck five, he busted out the door only to get stuck in rush hour traffic. Today's traffic was particularly bad. With the accidents on the road, it took him two hours to make a 30 minute drive home.

“Can this day get any worse?” Steve asked himself. This is a question no one in the human race should ask themselves, as Steve was about to find out.

Steve drove up into his driveway, parked the car, and walked up to the front door. With the turn of the key, Steve was back in his house. Immediately he noticed his house in shambles and things missing.

“You have got to be kidding me!” Steve yelled as he walked to the phone to call 911. Just as he reached for the phone, he was tackled to the ground from behind. He struggled against his assailant but to no avail. Soon Steve was sitting there with his hands tied behind his back, staring at a masked man. He tied to kick the robber but the robber was too quick and wrapped coil upon coil around Steve's ankles.

Then Steve tried to yell out for help but was stopped by a knotted bandanna being shoved into his mouth and tied behind his head.

“Now, now. We don't want none of that, do we?” the thief said. “You have some great stuff here and I appreciate you buying it all so I could take it.” Then to add insult to injury, the thief added even more rope around Steve's chest, making it harder to move.

“Mmmppph!!!” Steve tried to make any noise to be heard by anyone who might be passing by. The thief gave Steve a pat on the head and went back to his looting. Steve began struggling as hard as he could to get out of the ropes. Slowly but surely he inched his way up off the floor and onto the couch, just in time to watch the robber walk to the front door with Steve's brand new laptop.

“Top of the line piece of hardware you used to own!” The burglar gloated. “Well thanks for the great stuff! It's going to catch me a pretty penny!” And with a wave to his prisoner, he walked out the door never to be seen again.

Steve struggled even harder, this time to stand up and hop towards the door. He leaned forward trying to get his hands up to the door handle so he could go outside and try to get someone to help him. That's when he lost his balance and fell to the floor. He was back to square one. 'It's going to be a long night' he thought.

Moral of the story: Never ever in a million years, ask yourself if thing could get any worse!

The End.
