It was a Friday night at a busy office and Steve was waiting for his friend to finish up. The two of them had different approaches to how they went about working for the company they both had started at the same time. When it was time to clock off, Steve was out the door as quick as a shot, his brain completely switched off and eager to have his own free time before the next day.
Rick was the more serious of the two and felt he couldn't leave until everything he needed done was done and if that sometimes meant staying another five minutes to finish up, then that was what he would do.
This was one of those Fridays. Steve was eager to go to the bar, have a beer, play some pool and relax. Rick promised that he would meet him in less than ten minutes and to get the drinks in. Ten minutes soon became half an hour and Steve was getting a bit concerned for his friend.
He tried calling Rick but when the latter didn't pick up, Steve sipped his beer and quickly went back to the office to see what was holding up his friend.
As Steve made his way into the office, he heard moaning and soon saw that his friend had been tied and gagged to a chair. Steve looked confused as he went over to try and free his friend, ignoring the fact that Rick was actually trying to warn them that they weren't alone. Before Steve could do anything, the assailant who had Rick tied and gagged to a chair wasted little time in doing the exact same to Steve, removing the young man's tie and using it to gag him.
As Steve and Rick struggled in their bonds, the intruder in question was at the computer of their boss, downloading as much information on to a flashdrive as he could, including clients and various files that even Rick and Steve themselves were not privy to.
When the assailant was done with that, he came over to observe the two young men that he had almost too easily overpowered. It would be a shame to just leave them there without having a bit of fun with them first.
He took pleasure in taunting both Rick and Steve for working on a Friday night and he detected a flash of resentment with the latter cursing Rick for not coming with him to the bar.
"Oh, don't worry, boys," the intruder smirked. "You'll have plenty of time for drinking when your boss fires you for letting me in. In the meantime, I think I'm gonna have a little fun with you two, what do you say?"
Both Rick and Steve muffled horrified protests, not liking the look their masked captor was giving them.
When the lights went out and the door was locked behind them, it soon became apparent what he had in mind.
A few hours later, the masked intruder left with a flashdrive and brief case, content with what he had acquired in more ways than one.
As for Rick and Steve, both had become the fall guys in their boss's personal files and contact lists being stolen.
In spite of their ordeal and getting fired, both men were determined they would get even with the man who ruined their lives, even if it would take a while for them to find him.
