As I make my way on my hike I realized miles ago, I have not seen a trail marker but luckily I see a man on his property so I hop his fence and make my way to go see if he knows where the trail has gone. As he speaks and tells me he has no idea what I'm talking about, I ask him for a piece of duct tape to help fix my pack as I have a newly acquired hole in the bottom of it. Since rain is expected I really need to fix this and all it will take is a small piece of duct tape.
Luckily this stranger man has an entire roll of duct tape. Once I have my pack fixed, Mr. Stranger man decides to tape up a few loose ends of his own. The next thing I know I am hogtied with duct tape in the back of his truck. He tightly wrapped duct tape around my ankles, my knees, my thighs, my wrist and my chest. My mouth is covered with several layers of tape thats wrapped tightly around my head. He then decides to go for a drive with me hogtaped in the back of his truck as I'm sure he can hear me and my complaints as this is not what was supposed to happen. All I wanted to do was fix my pack. He then backs into an area and stands back and watches me struggle in the tight tape hog tie that he put me in. I try to get defensive and grab my trekking pole with my bound feet to ward him off. I do not know what I was thinking or what good I thought this trekking pole would do for me but he then closes the truck bed gate and goes for another drive watching as I struggle on this hard surface and worst case scenario for a hiker that lost trail. Once I realize what I have to do I get to work. I somehow managed to loosen my arms from being taped to my body and squeeze my wrists out of my wrist bondage and work on loosening all the other tape found around my body. He then backs into a location as I continue to frantically escape my binds. I succeed at hurriedly escape with a bit of challenge to loosen my ankle tape. I run away in panic leaving my trail runner sneakers, 1 sock, my poles and even my pack behind.
